Snapshot Meeting
The first Statewide Planning “Snapshot” Meeting was held on June 21, 2005 in Topeka, Kansas. Dr. Margaret Moore, who has been responsible for facilitating statewide efforts in Colorado, facilitated this meeting. This meeting was the first step in the statewide planning process. The “Snapshot” brought an initial group of stakeholders across the state together to identify a group definition of PBS, identify state strengths, resources, and barriers to implementation of best practice. This meeting allowed the group to identify major elements to be used during a full day action planning session on July 22, 2005. The group used this meeting to prepare for a focused discussion about how to proceed by providing a series of targeted questions that identify the state’s strengths, barriers, and resources. This information on the “state of the state” was used as a springboard to begin the second meeting, the development of the Statewide Action Plan.
The next step was to schedule statewide action planning that would result in specific goals generated by the group and the types of subcommittees needed to address those goals (e.g. state PBS curriculum, higher education plans, grant writing, etc.). Regularly scheduled subcommittee and larger group meetings will occur to monitor progress and achieve the goals outlined. Click here for a report from this meeting.
